On July 24, 2025, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), the General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), ignited the second phase of his statewide election campaign, Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom (Let’s Protect the People, Revive Tamil Nadu), with a dynamic tour from Pattukottai to Pudukkottai, covering Gandharvakottai, Aalangudi, and Aranthangi. This campaign, aimed at rallying support for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, showcased EPS’s commitment to reconnecting with the masses and challenging the ruling DMK government.
Starting in Pattukottai, EPS addressed a vibrant crowd, emphasizing the AIADMK’s vision of restoring prosperity and governance rooted in the legacy of M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa. His speech focused on the DMK’s alleged failures, particularly in maintaining law and order and fostering economic growth. “The people of Tamil Nadu deserve a government that prioritizes their welfare, not one mired in corruption,” EPS declared, urging voters to support AIADMK’s promise of a revitalized state.
As the campaign progressed through Gandharvakottai and Aalangudi, EPS engaged with local leaders and residents, highlighting the need for grassroots development. In Aranthangi, he criticized the DMK’s policies, accusing them of neglecting farmers and rural communities. “Our alliance will bring back the golden era of Tamil Nadu,” he said, reinforcing AIADMK’s independent stance despite its alliance with the BJP.
The tour culminated in Pudukkottai, where EPS’s speech resonated with thousands, blending nostalgia for AIADMK’s past achievements with a forward-looking agenda. He promised to prioritize infrastructure, education, and agricultural reforms, appealing to the region’s agrarian base. The day’s events underscored EPS’s leadership and AIADMK’s resolve to reclaim power in 2026.
