AIADMK's Third Phase Campaign Ignites Tamil Nadu's Political Landscape

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) launched the third phase of its campaign for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in Krishnagiri on August 11, 2025. Titled “Puratchi Thamizharin Ezhuchi Payanam” (Revolutionary Tamilians’ Journey of Rise), this campaign, led by AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), aims to rally voters by highlighting the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) alleged governance failures while showcasing AIADMK’s vision for a prosperous Tamil Nadu.

This phase, originally planned from August 11 to August 23, 2025, faced a hiccup with the postponement of the August 23 tour, though reasons remain undisclosed. EPS has been relentless, crisscrossing districts to connect with the public, criticizing the DMK’s policies, and reinforcing AIADMK’s ambition to form a single-party government in 2026, despite its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This initiative follows a 14-day walkathon, or padyatra, which began in Coimbatore on July 7, 2025, and concluded in Thanjavur, successfully rallying supporters and promoting the party’s platform.

A standout feature of this campaign is the innovative “Lies and Deceit” initiative, using interactive tools like spin-the-wheel games and scratch cards to expose what AIADMK claims are the DMK’s unfulfilled 2021 election promises. This creative approach has resonated with voters, making complex political critiques accessible and engaging. EPS’s speeches emphasize public dissatisfaction with the DMK, confidently predicting a strong mandate for AIADMK based on growing grassroots support.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has hit back, particularly in the western districts, touting projects like the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme as proof of DMK’s commitment to development. He argues these achievements will overshadow AIADMK’s campaign narrative. However, EPS remains undeterred, framing the 2026 elections as a referendum on DMK’s governance, urging voters to choose AIADMK for a return to stability and progress.

As Tamil Nadu’s political temperature rises, AIADMK’s third phase campaign is a bold move to reclaim its stronghold. With EPS at the helm, the party is banking on its legacy, strategic outreach, and public discontent to pave the way for victory.
