AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) electrified Tamil Nadu’s political landscape with a dynamic campaign trail from Thanjavur to Pattukottai, passing through Orathanadu and Peravurani. This leg of his statewide tour, Makkalai Kappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom (Let’s Protect the People, Let’s Redeem Tamil Nadu), drew massive crowds, showcasing EPS’s enduring appeal as a grassroots leader. His speeches, marked by sharp critiques and bold promises, set a confrontational tone for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
On July 23, 2025, EPS began in Thanjavur, addressing a spirited gathering with a call to oust the ruling DMK government, which he branded as “anti-people.” He accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of neglecting farmers and fishermen, particularly highlighting the plight of Tamil Nadu’s coastal communities facing arrests by the Sri Lankan Navy. “Stalin’s government has failed to protect our people or their livelihoods,” EPS declared, urging voters to reject DMK’s “dynastic politics.” His words resonated deeply with locals, many of whom cheered his pledge to restore peace and prosperity.
Moving through Orathanadu and Peravurani, EPS connected with diverse groups—farmers, youth, and women’s self-help groups—promising tailored welfare schemes and economic revival. In Pattukottai, his final stop, he delivered a rousing speech, dismissing DMK’s claims of securing 200 seats in 2026 as “delusional.” He emphasized AIADMK’s independent strength while inviting like-minded parties to join a united front under his leadership. “We are not fools to be dictated by others,” he asserted, subtly addressing speculations about the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
The day’s events, amplified by vibrant roadshows, underscored EPS’s strategy to rebuild AIADMK’s dominance. With his unrelenting focus on local issues and a vision for a resurgent Tamil Nadu, EPS is clearly positioning himself as the state’s next big hope.
