On July 21, 2025, The dynamic leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), took his Makkalai Kappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom (“Let’s Protect People, Let’s Redeem Tamil Nadu”) campaign across the heart of Tamil Nadu, rallying supporters from Thiruvarur to Kumbakonam via Mannargudi and Thirubhuvanam. The day was marked by passionate speeches that underscored EPS’s vision for a prosperous Tamil Nadu and his sharp critique of the ruling DMK government.

Starting in Thiruvarur, EPS connected with farmers, addressing their struggles head-on. He strongly criticised the DMK for obstructing the Godavari-Cauvery river linking project — an important scheme aimed at improving irrigation and providing drinking water, which had been prioritised by his government. He also raised concerns about the neglected Rasimanal Dam, which could conserve millions of cubic feet of water, accusing the DMK of failing to push its ally, Congress, to prioritize it. EPS didn’t stop there—he criticized the DMK for poor maintenance of water channels, leaving crops in the Cauvery Delta parched, and for denying farmers crop loans due to bureaucratic hurdles like CIBIL scores.

Moving to Mannargudi and Thirubhuvanam, EPS turned his focus to the soaring cost of living. He highlighted how skyrocketing prices of essentials and increased taxes have burdened rural families, making education and daily necessities unaffordable. In Kumbakonam, he engaged with handloom weavers, promising to revive AIADMK’s legacy of supporting local industries.

EPS also took aim at the DMK’s governance, branding it a “corrupt regime” plagued by scandals, including alleged mismanagement in state-run enterprises. He clarified that AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP is a tactical move to oust the DMK, not a plan for a coalition government, confidently asserting that AIADMK would secure a solo victory in 2026.

With fiery rhetoric and a focus on farmers, weavers, and economic relief, EPS’s campaign yesterday energized supporters, setting a bold tone for the road to 2026.
